Full Swing

Updated: Aug 1, 2018

The season is in full swing with it's many hours on the river searching for the "one" - a big brown trout willing to eat a foam bug. 2018 is certainly a year with good water levels and the fish are fattening up. Dry fly fishing has been good, caddis flies in their various emerging stages are getting the trout sip on top. As summer passes the water levels are dropping, the trico fishing with clouds of tiny mayflies appearing like plumes of smoke will continue to provide food for rising trout. The hoppers are now coming into play and a smorgasbord of food is available. August is a great time of year to hook into a real Bow River tank!
